Hello, my name is Lewis Howles

A short history

From an early age I loved to draw; I would spend time copying images or characters from books to see how close I could get my drawings to the real thing. Unfortunately as I grew older I found myself drawing less and less and in many cases I now find drawing with a computer easier than drawing with a pencil.

Shortly after getting my first computer in High School, I started to add images, shapes, colours, anything I could get my hands on to my work in an attempt to add that extra something. Times were rough back then, and I remember doing all of my drawing in Microsoft Word with shapes and the freeform tool. I would almost certainly be embarassed by those early efforts now, but at the time I found that not only did it make me stand out from the crowd somewhat, it was by far the most enjoyable part.

This mindset and preference towards making things look good carried on throughout High School and then University and my degree in Computer Science. Some of my most memorable projects were those where I could create an application's interface, a website's look or a document's design.

I played with designs for my own website on many occasions while doing work for friends and family and until now I was never completely happy with a design. So, here it is.

What I do

I try to add flare to many things, from websites to stationary (business cards, letter heads, leaflets) and print media. I've created logos and even drawn original art and graphics.

I've both created and extended my design to spreadsheets and documents, edited photographs including removing unwanted artifacts and even redrawn existing logos and designs in vector format.

If there is anything you would like me to do (whether or not I've listed it above), contact me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
